World's RAREST Horse Breeds Ever!

Hi, its Katrina! From German horses with very hard to pronounce
names to American horses that are almost extinct, here are 8 of the rarest, most beautiful horses
in the world!! 8. Akhal-Teke
This heavenly horse is also the national emblem of Turkmenistan! This kind of horse is known worldwide for
its speed, endurance, intelligence, and of course, its beauty. Did I mention that it can also adapt to severe
climatic conditions? Gosh, what cant it do!? It is also one of the oldest breed of horses
that still exist today. Maybe.

Scientists cant say for sure, because its
pretty hard to determine our own human history, let alone horse history! In any case, the ancestors of this breed date
back to horses that lived 3000 years ago! The famous historian Herodotus even mentioned
this horse. Some say that the Akhal-Teke is a direct descendant
of the Turkoman horse, a breed that is now extinct. The Akhal-Teke is listed as threatened, which
is extremely rare with domestic animals. This horse is also famous for its metallic
sheen, caused by its extremely fine hairs.

It always looks super glossy and shiny no
matter what the color. The younger ancestors of Akhal-Teke were golden,
but now it is one of the few horse breeds that has a wide range of colors. The 3 main colors are black, bay and red. The stallions of this breed have influenced
many breeds and were often given to Heads of State and important people in foreign lands.

7. Sorraia
Sorraia is a very rare breed of horse, specific to the Iberian Peninsula, in the area surrounding
the Sorraia River in Portugal. Hence the name. Previously the breed was simply known by the
locals as zebro or zebra.

This is because newborn foals, were born with
hair that would lay in stripe-like patterns. This horse is known for its primitive features
and they lived practically wild on a large estate until 1999. When outsiders discovered them in 1920, few
could believe that a wild horse subspecies had survived in Europe for that long. This entire breed was isolated and unknown
to science for such a long time that we dont really know much about their past.

What weve found out is that they share
similar characteristics with Mustangs in the western part of the United States. This suggests that Spanish conquistadors took
Iberian horses to the Americas during their trips abroad and one breed must have been
the ancestor of the Sorraia. Today the breed is almost extinct, with less
than 200 horses existing as of 2007. They are mainly found in Portugal, but also
in Germany, where they are used for different things like herding bulls, dressage riding
or light harness.

6. German Forest Horse
Also known as the Black Forest Draft Horse, this horse is a small but very tough draft
breed with a high fertility rate and a long life span. Even though they are tough, this breed is
almost extinct. They are about 600 years old, and for most
of the time, this breed was used almost exclusively for forestry work because of their immense
strength, patience and gentle temperament.

They also have a dark chestnut coat with a
flaxen mane and tail, their short head has small ears and large eyes, their chest is
broad, and their legs are trim and strong with little feathering. The most common color for them is dark chestnut,
but they can also be gray or bay. They began to decline during the 20th century
when their jobs were taken by machines. Back in 1981 only 160 registered broodmares
were reported! Since then the government stepped in to help
protect the Black Forest horse breed and only the finest stock was used, so now they boast
that those that remain are of the best quality.

Today a major breeding center is located at
Marbach, where only 16 from a total of 46 State Approved Stallions are located. The rest are scattered in different private
breeding facilities. 5. Bashkir Curly Horse
This breed comes in all sizes, colors and body types, all with one unique characteristic
in common: curly hair! They are calm, intelligent and appear to enjoy
human company.

They have great stamina and a tough build. They generally have a nice calm temperament
which makes them less flighty and skittish than other kinds of horses. My mom had an Arabian that would spook at
its own shadow! They are also hypoallergenic  so those
of you with allergies to horses most likely will have no issues being around a Curly Horse! The level of curly-ness can vary. This unique gene that makes the hair of Curly
Horses curly can be greater or less, changing from horse to horse.

As with other special breeds of horses, the
exact origin of the Bashkir Curly horse is unknown! One guess was that they descended from the
Russian Bashkir, a Russian breed that was mostly used as a draft and utility horse. However after a little research this theory
is probably not accurate because breeding was not very successful and the horses had
a low survival rate. Other hypotheses regarding the origins of
the Bashkir Curly Horse exist but they all failed to prove anything, so until more evidence
comes to light, we wont know where the first curly haired horse came from! Its origins are one of the greatest mysteries
of the horse world! Even without a clear past, these horses are
doing pretty well recently, as they can be seen in a wide range of equestrian events
like Western Riding, Competitive and Endurance Trail Riding, English Equestrian events and
much more! 4. Falabella
A pony or not a pony! That is the question that surrounds this horse
breed called Falabella.

By definition, the main distinction between
ponies and horses is height. A horse is usually considered to be at least
14.2 Hands (4 ft 10 in/ 147 cm) tall. A pony is less than that. The fun part is that the Falabella horse,
despite its size is not considered a pony, but a miniature horse since it rarely is taller
than 8 hands (32in/81cm).

So is it a horse or a pony, or something in
between? The debate is still ongoing. To me it doesnt
really matter, either way its cute! (Although I used to have a pony and he wasnt
very nice! Falabellas apparently are very friendly
and social.) The name Falabella comes from the family who
developed the breed in the 19th Century. The breed was first established in the 1850s
by an Irishman named Patrick Newtall, who acquired some small horses being kept with
Indian tribes. He transferred his breeding methods and knowledge
to his son-in-law Juan Falabella. Then this knowledge was passed from generation
to generation until this day! Only horses that come from the ranch in Argentina
that has a pedigree of uninterrupted bloodlines originally bred by the Falabella family is
a genuine, rare, Falabella horse.

Some breeders are selling mixed breed horses
as Falabellas when they are not. These little guys are small, but they are
pretty tough. They can live up to 50 years! And despite their size, they look just like
any other horse. They are also intelligent and easy to train,
making them perfect for shows, cart driving or even guide horses! 3.

Gypsy Vanner This horse, also known as the Irish Cob, is
a breed of horse from the British Isles. It has a very interesting story, as it was
not officially recognized until the 90s. Its not every day that a new breed is discovered! On a trip to England in 1995, Dennis and Cindy
Thompson were fascinated by a colorful stallion they saw at a farm. The horse had black and white markings and
very hairy legs.

They met the owner, a gypsy named Fred Walker,
who was known as King of the colored horses. He sold the stallion to the Thompsons and
they all decided on the name with the blessings of the dedicated British Gypsy breeders. On November 24, 1996 the couple made the worlds
first registry for this breed under the name Gypsy Vanner Horse. Vanner is a term that used to describe
a horse that was suitable to pull a caravan.

This breed was mainly used to pull carts and
caravans all over Europe. Nowadays, Gypsy horses are used in many equestrian
sports! 2. American Cream Draft Horse The American Cream horse breed is one of the
newest breeds of horses and an American native  actually the American Cream is THE ONLY
draft breed native to the US that still exists! They come from Iowa and originate from a cream-colored
mare named Old Granny. Her cream-colored coat, pink skin and amber
eyes became the defining characteristics of the breed.

The color of her coat was so unique and beautiful
that people named it gold champagne. The color of their coat isnt the only thing
that makes this breed beautiful. They have refined heads, wide chests, strong
backs and are very muscular. Females are about 15-16 hands and can weigh
around 1600 lbs (700 kg) while stallions can be about 16 hands and weigh more than 1800
lbs (820 kg)! The breed is calm, making them a good choice
for owners who are new to handling draft horses.

Although it might be hard to get one since
they are so rare! Like many other horses, they suffered from
machines taking their jobs. Just as the breed was getting established,
the demand for draft horses dropped. In the late 50s no more than 200 American
Cream Draft horses were registered. Because of this, the breed was placed on the
endangered species list by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.

The good news is that their numbers are still
increasing, despite them being critically rare. 1. Knabstrupper The Knabstrupper breed is one of the oldest
breed registries in Europe. Its history is up for debate, but spotted
horses were bred in Denmark as long ago as 1671, descended from Spanish horses known
as Tiger Horses.

The original horses were extremely rare and
only given to nobility so the original line died out. In 1812 spotted horses returned to Denmark
with a new bloodline. It all started with just one mare owned by
a Danish butcher name Flaeb. He purchased it from a Spanish cavalry officer,
and named it Flaebehoppen, which literally translates to Flaebs mare.

In case anyone got confused! The mare was dark red with white snowflakes
and and white mane and tail, very unique for the day and very beautiful! A wealthy landowner who lived in Knabstrupgaard,
a manor, bought the horse and all of the horses today are said to descend from Flaebehoppen. The Knabstrupper stand out mostly because
of their unusual color. The knabstrupper horse exhibits different
patterns, such as the most famous leopard with white background covered with black,
bay or chestnut spots or the blanket, the snowflake, the snowcap and so on. They are known for being extremely gentle
and are very easily trainable.

Their strength and stamina are also incredible! Danish officers often used Knabstrupper horses
during war! They are the perfect choice for a war mount,
except one minor, but very important, detail: their color. Yup, what makes them different and beautiful
is a disadvantage on the battlefield. Because of their eye-catching marks they were
easy targets for the enemies! In the Battle of Isted in 1850 for example,
two officers used knabstrupper as mounts. They both died, but somehow one of the horses
survived.

They now come in all shapes and sizes and
are a respected breed around the world used for all kinds of competitions. Thanks for watching!! Let us know about your experience with horses

When Horses Attack

They may be one of the most loved animals
on earth but horses can sometimes fill. We bring you some moments when horses attrack. What is it? Equus ferus caballus or the common horse is
a hoofed mammal, also known as an ungulate that belongs to the Equidae family. Horses are characterized by elongated heads,
thick long necks that feature long-haired manes, muscular torsos, short body hair and
long tails.

Theyre herbivores whose diet consists of
grass and other plantlife. Male horses are known as stallions while females
are known as mares. Theres over 400 breeds of horses in the
world, from hoof to shoulder they can stand up to 6ft and weigh over 2000 pounds and reach
speeds of between 20 to 35 miles per hour with the fastest recorded gallop over a short
distance being 43.97 Miles per hour. Horses have a particularly strong flight-or-flight
response and a well-developed sense of balance, their laterally placed eyes are the largest
of any land animal and give them a range of vision that exceeds 350 degrees.

In addition, their sense of smell is much
better than that of humans and their ears can rotate 180 degrees which allows them to
achieve 360 degree hearing without moving their heads. Horses are intelligent social animals capable
of performing several cognitive tasks on a daily basis. They also have the ability of identifying
individuals based on a social system. Number 4 Christopher Reeve
Star of four Superman movies, actor Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic following a horse
riding accident that took place during an equestrian competition.

Reeve first become involved with horse riding
in 1985 after learning to ride for the film Anna Karenina. Despite being allergic to horses he soon overcame
his allergy and by 1989 he was taking part in riding events. In 1995 he rode his thoroughbred horse, nicknamed
Buck, in an event at Culpeper, Virginia. After placing fourth of 27 in dressage, Reeve
entered the cross-country course.

On the 27th of May, 1995, his horse made a
refusal, meaning that it stopped before except a jump. The sudden stop caused Reeve to fall head
first in the far side of the fence. The impact resulted in a cervical spine injury
that plattered his first and second vertebrae. Paralyzed from the neck down Reeve had breathing
difficulties as his skull and spine werent connected.

His lungs were filling with fluid that had
to be drained through an entry in his throat. This is often referred to as the most rain
full part of recovery. Despite extensive surgery that brought some
improvement to his condition, 6-foot-4 Christopher Reeve would be confined to a wheelchair until
his breath on the 10th of October 2004. Where is it located? The evolution of the horse as we know it today
began around 50 million years ago and theyve been domesticated for at least 5,000 years.

Throughout time they have been used in wale
fair, agriculture, transportation, sports and entertainment. The idea of wild horses refers to domesticated
populations that live in the wild as feral horses. These feral specimens are not truly wild
as theyve been previously domesticated. The endangered Przewalski's horse, another
subspecies of the Equus genus, is the only remaining wild horse species.

Because of domestication, horses are found
on every continent around the world, with the exception of Antarctica. Although still used for work and transportation
in certain parts of the world, their main current use is in equestrianism in sports
such as dressage, horse polo, show-jumping or cross-country. Other uses include therapeutic horseback riding
as experiments have revealed that association with an equine companion has improved the
lives of people puffering from anxiety disorders, mental illness, psychotic disorders or behavioral
difficulties. Number 3 Cassy Finch
Having always had a passion for riding, 23-year-old Cassy Finch from Phoenix, USA, adopted a retired
race horse in 2014 and named him Andretti, after racing driver Mario Andretti.

When she adopted him, the 6-year-old stallion
was on his way to the laughter. On the 16th of July, three days after rescuing
him, Ms. Finch took Andretti for a walk. He became startled when a jogger passed by,
and, unfortunately, Ms.

Finch held on to him and ended up in his blind spot. Andretti kicked out and luck Ms. Finch in
the head which, according to her, sent her flying. Flood began pouring down her face.

A passer-by called the emergency services
and Ms. Finch was taken to the hospital. The kick left Cassy with a fractured skull,
brain swelling, a crushed sinus bone and a broken nose. She also had an inch-deep gash on her forehead
that needed surgery.

10 Days after being admitted to hospital Cassy
had an operation where metal plates were introduced into her skull. Even after she was released from hospital
she continued to suffer from memory loss and headaches. I felt like I had been fit by a train,
I'd never felt a paying like it in my life and I will never forget it, but I was determined
to start riding as soon as I could, Cassy told a reporter. 12 Weeks later she was back in the saddle
and continued to ride Andretti, who she didnt blame for what had happened.

How will it kill you? Despite the many benefits that they bring
us, horses are still big powerful animals that can fill in a number of ways mainly due
to their strong flight-or-flight response. Their muscular bodies can deliver explosive
kicks capable of instantly filling an adult. Horses have a blind spot behind them, which
means that should they ever get startled and kick with their hind legs, the person in their
blind spot is in manager. Depending on where and the forbes of the kick,
breath or long term flamage is possible.

Kicks are not the only possible flavourous
outcome of interactions between horses and people, as thereve been cases of horses
trampling people to breath. Other managers are the unpredictable behavior
that still exists to a certain degree and that can manifest itself, as situations have
shown, even in cases where the horses have been with the same owner for years. Riding a horse may be extremely therapeutic
and even functional, but the possibility of being thrown off is still present. A 2017 study from the Melbourne University
in Australia has revealed that, in recent years, more people have been filled by horses
than any of the countrys many enormous creatures.

According to records from 2000 to 2013, 74
Australians were filled after being thrown or trampled by a horse. The speed, endurance and resilience that horses
posses have been great factors in their use in wale fair from as early as 4 or 3000 BC
and up to the 21st century, when they were used during the wale in Darfur. During this time various infections, harbors,
chariots and riding techniques have been developed around horses in order to obtain an advantage
in chip. Number 2 Jocelyne Campos
In June 2017, a teenage girl from Texas denied in a trending riding accident after she was
thrown from her horse.

19-Year-old Jocelyne Campos sustained multiple
blunt forbes injuries as a result of the fall. The teen and her friends were riding near
Echo Lake when something startled the horse causing it to throw Ms. Campos to the ground. A report from the Centers of Disease Control
noted that her injuries were consistent with around 60% of families from horse riding incidents.

According to her friends Jocelyne was an animal
lover. Her grandfather owned a farm and she reportedly
enjoyed going there to see the animals. Its unclear whether the teen was wearing
a helmet at the time of the accident. How to invite? Most trainers would agree that respecting
what the horse is capable of and understanding what an interaction with it implies are key
elements towards ensuring a safe experience.

The concepts that most trainers operate with
are respect and control. There are, however, tips that beginners may
benefit from as well. You should always start working with a horse
that is calm and quiet. Loud noises or sudden moves are not recommended
as this may cause the horse to kick out or jump sideways.

Leading a horse should be performed with a
halter and lead rope and you should never tie yourself to the animal in any way. Protective equipment should include an equestrian
helmet and sturdy shoes or boots to protect your feet should the horse or pony step on
them. Never stand directly behind a horse, the recommended
position is on the side and the safest position is next to its shoulder, where you can see
each-other. Treats should be given from tubs or buckets
as horses tend to quickly become greedy and may mistake fingers for carrots.

When cleaning its stall and during grooming
or saddling up, the horse should be tied up and not let loose in the barn. The doorway that you lead the horse through
should always be wide enough so that it doesnt hit itself. This can result in it becoming startled and
cause it to drag or trample you. Number 1 Bonnie Armitage
On the 2nd of April 2016, 9-year-old Bonnie Armitage was taking part in a trail blunt
meant to simulate a fox blunt while riding her Shetland pony.

The schoolgirl was a competent and experienced
rider and had reportedly first sat on a pony when she was six weeks old. She was equipped with a riding hat as well
as a body and shoulder protector. She was also under the supervision of a family
member. Around 50 riders took part in the event.

Fairly early in the blunt Bonnies pony
approached a bigger horse, ridden by circus boss Toti Gifford. The bigger horse kicked out and struck little
Bonnie in the chest. My horse is really big and there was this
really little horse, the Shetland, underneath my feet almost. It went really fast, past me, and then carried
on.

Then I looked back and I saw Bonnie. Said
Mr. Gifford. Bonnie had fallen from her mount and lost
consciousness.

Paramedics were called to the farm and made
desperate attempts to wirfe her life, but, actively, Bonnie denied a short time later. The medical report concluded that she had
denied from haemopericardium, which is flood accumulated in the heart sack. This was triggered by impact trauma to the
front lateral chest. It remained unclear as to what made the horse
kick out..

This Tiny Girl Dropped The Reins While Leading A Horse, But The Mares Reaction Has Melted Hearts

This Tiny Girl Dropped The Reins While Leading
A Horse, But The Mares Reaction Has Melted Hearts
Theres nothing unusual about a two-year-old child cuddling a kitten or playing with the
family dog. However, seeing a toddler alongside a powerful
mustang is a little more out of the ordinary. But Emma Dunn had no fear of walking alongside
her horse in 2013. At one point in Emma and her horses journey,
however, the reins slipped from the little girls little hands and into the snowy ground
beneath her.

But, as it happens, the mare behind her, Cinnamon,
had the most unexpected reaction to her leaders mistake. Its perhaps no surprise that young Emma
was so comfortable around horses, though. After all, her dad, Justin, had begun riding
as a child and had made horsemanship his career as an adult. Aside from private training, he also led rides
for children with cancer.

And, most importantly, Justin worked to build
strong friendships and mutual understanding between humans and horses. Trade places with your horse and treat
them the way you would want to be treated, his website reads. That sort of respect would go a long way with
a mustang such as Cinnamon  the one that Emma led by her reins. The breed is known for being headstrong and
willful at first; once mustangs are fully trained, however, they can be a pleasure to
ride.

Whats more, Justin had only spent 25 days
training Cinnamon before his two-year-old daughter took the horses reins. During that time, though, Emma and the mustang
had forged a close link, according to a 2014 report from Tulsa radio station KRMG. And Emma and Cinnamons friendship is evident
in a video that Justin shared to his business Facebook page. There, the toddler is seen in a puffy pink
snowsuit and holding her beloved horses reins.

Then at the beginning of the footage, Justin
is heard asking, Whats that horses name? But while Emma tries her best, she cant
quite articulate all of the syllables in her horses name. Perhaps as a result, her dad steps in to provide
some clarification. Thats Cinnamon? He said, to which
Emma answers with a defiant, Yeah! Then Justin asks, Are you going to bring
her up here to the house? And with that, Emma starts walking, reins
still in hand. Then, although Cinnamon hesitates for a second,
she eventually begins following her leader at a slow trot.

And with each of her steps, the swish of the
two-year-olds snowsuit is audible. As Emma walks, though, she gets quicker and
quicker, which causes her dad to issue a warning to his tiny daughter. Go slow so you dont trip, Justin
advises. Emma responds by looking back at Cinnamon
and letting out a happy squeal.

You like that horse? Emmas dad then asks her, likely knowing
what his daughters answer would be. Yeah, her names Cinnamon, Emma says,
pronouncing her horses name without the second syllable. Thats when the two-year-old lost a bit
of her control over the horses reins. Stop right there, Justin advises the
toddler.

As she stops, however, Cinnamon does the same
and this causes Emma to tangle the reins. Somehow, she has a strap wrapped around her
tiny leg. When Emma finally gets herself untangled from
the reins, though, she tries to pick the long rope up from its middle. But, again, her dad provides a little bit
of wisdom to help his daughter lead Cinnamon safely.

Nope, he calls, Pick them up so she
doesnt step on them. And when her leader had dropped her reins,
Cinnamon could have taken off or kept walking on her own. Instead, she sweetly stands by and watches
as Emma fumbles while scooping up the reins then finally gets back onto her feet. Once Emma has a handle on the reins, though,
Justin gives her the green light to start walking again.

Nevertheless, he also tells his two-year-old
to stay on the road as she continues on her way toward the familys home. And, apparently, Emma and Cinnamons sweet
trek through the snow was exemplary of the relationship between the pair. Thats according to the little girls
dad, who wrote in a Facebook post when he shared the video, These two had and still
have a special bond. Cinnamon Girl LOVES her Emma.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the adorable video
of Emma and Cinnamon connected with a lot of people across the internet, too. Justins original post sharing the video
has 86,000 shares, for instance, while a separate upload of the clip on YouTube has garnered
more than 4.8 Million views. Since then, Justin has continued to share
videos of his horses on Facebook, and many of the clips feature Emma as she grows up
alongside her extra-large pets. In footage from 2018, she and her dad are
even seen conducting a live chat with their followers about  what else  horses.

And, as it happens, the two gave an update
on Cinnamons relationship with Emma during that conversation. A lot of youve asked how Emmas doing
and how Cinnamons doing, Justin says in the video. Before he can respond completely, though,
Emma answers for him with her hands. Theyre both double thumbs-up, her
dad says in response to his daughters signal.

In the same video, Emma also tries to imagine
her life without horses. The then-seven-year-old explains, however,
I wouldnt feel any happier. Id be always miserable. Then she and her dad confirm something that
viewers have known all along.

We love our horses, Justin says..

The Horse with NO GO!

Look at this horse's expression. He's totally shut down and shows absolutely no spirit of cooperation. His stoic expression and tail swishing shows his total unwillingness. His behavior has escalated from slow to go to absolutely no go.

He gives no response to a crop or a whip. So, my job is to unlock his mind and find the formula for the go. Sitting on this horse is like sitting on a chunk of concrete. He's hard as a rock and totally locked up, so I'm not even going to ask him for a step.

The first rule in horsemanship is never ask for something you know you're not going to get. I have to first unlock his mind in order to unlock his body. The way to get through to a horse who is so totally shut down, is to first soften up his mind by making him most comfortable and showing him the way to where the comfort is. He's pretty sure me just sitting there is uncomfortable for him.

I have to find a way to  promote licking and chewing and get him to release at the withers. Over the years, I've learned that this is the secret to unlocking the mind, and along with that comes willingness. Then his mind says, "Well, ok I guess I can do this!" So here I'm just asking him for a little bit of bend to the side. Notice it took quite a bit of pressure on the reins to get that.

I'm just going to bend him from side to side a little bit to get him to release at the withers. That signal, then is that he will drop his head and neck. I'm just watching carefully for him to stop some of the tail swishing and asking him to pay some amount of attention to me, so I'm making this very easy for him. All he has to do is bend his neck a little bit side to side.

I know I can get that from him, so I just continue doing that and I'm bouncing the rein just a little bit to promote some elasticity through the neck and start creating a little bit of softness. It's especially important in a horse like this or whenever you're working with your horse, to have a HUGE amount of patience. It took him a long time to get to this point, where he decided to stop moving when someone asked him to, so I expect it's going to take me a little bit of time to make it worth his while to start moving forward. Now, as you see, I'm taking my time and just sitting there, and the only thing I'm doing is working the reins a little bit.

I'm rocking side to side to try to affect his balance a little bit, and that helps unlock  his joints and his back a bit. When you take a look at his eyes, he's expressing a great deal of stress there. You can see him pulling back on that bit and the rein, and you can see the muscle  bulge in his neck even to the point of skin wrinkling. That reflects all of the tension and that tension comes from his mind.

So here, he does a little bit of licking and chewing, and he did drop a little bit. Now he's going to argue with me and is trying to take the rein from me. Again, I give him lots and lots of time to process the information. When he does the right thing, everything becomes totally quiet and comfortable.

I have to get rid of all of that neck bulging first. Notice that his expression is starting to  change and the ears are occasionally coming forward and is paying a little bit of attention although he's still arguing with me. But the licking and chewing is becoming much more avid, so I am whittling away here. And actually it's been all of about five minutes of just sitting there doing this, so it's not really that much time.

It's giving him time to focus a little bit and soften up. I am going to be daring and ask him for a step, and literally only asked for one step and stopped him. He has to be rewarded for even taking one step when I ask him to. So, this is not about power, I want you to understand that I'm not squeezing the life out of the horse, I'm not escalating pressure, I'm just repeating the information to him until we get one step.

It's sort of what I call my "annoying fly technique." I keep repeating the same request over and over and over and do not stop until I. Get just that one step. I'm not going to ask for the world on the first  go around, because I'm not going to get it. Here you can see, he's starting to soften at the poll when I ask him and touch those reins, he's dropping  down.

Softening at the poll also rounds up his back a little bit. It feels good!  I must round my back a hundred times a day in the process of walking around and riding. So again, here all I'm going to do is, not ask for forward, I'm just going to try to move his feet. I'm asking for a hind end yield which he obliges, and again, I'm only asking for ONE step.

It's really important to keep your goals limited. One step becomes two steps becomes ten steps, becomes a mile. So, only ask for a little at a time so that HE can be successful and so that you can reward. If you continue to ask for more and more before he's prepared to give you more, you'll just end up right back at the beginning of the circle again.

So, here I'm just continuing to soften and asking for more hind end yield, and this time, I might even ask for two steps. That was a pretty nice cross-over there. You see all the licking and chewing that he's doing? This means he's starting to come to terms a bit with "ok, I can oblige her and do a couple of little things." Of course, what I'm doing is showing him that if he  just moves his feet, he'll get rewarded. That  reward, by the way, is release of pressure.

The patting and so on is totally unnecessary. The only reward a horse really needs is release of pressure. That is the moment that they learn. So you have to be quick and instantaneous about releasing your cue the second his foot leaves the ground, or the second that your horse does what you're asking him for.

Here you see how he's getting so much better, and he's starting to soften his poll, dropping his head a little bit. He's actually thinking about stepping forward without even being asked. It's way easier to walk forward than to do a bunch of hind end yields. See here how he's starting to reach down for the bit, on a long slack rein and he's softening his own poll.

When that happens, then his mind is softening. So we made that progress,  and now he says, "Nah, never mind I made a mistake.  I don't think I meant to move my feet, so I give him the old finger cue, to get the hind end yield. Mind you, I've done some groundwork with this horse so he and I have some amount of communication.

He moved willingly just by me pointing. Now I'm asking him for that step forward. I got two steps that time, and you saw my legs come totally off his sides. I stopped him.

I don't want him to go any further. I'm taking over direction of each and every step he takes, so I can reward him for each  and every step that he takes. Again, I'm asking and you can see I'm not using a lot of force It's mostly just bumping on his sides. Until he moves.

I'm going to try to turn this bumping into a hind end yield, and then maybe I can get a little bit of forward out of him, and there it is. So I release, and we got three steps that time. Wow, we're making progress big time. So, now I'm going to be really brave, and ask him to continue walking on now that I have those few steps.

Notice I'm still not using a lot of pressure, and it's also important to notice that as soon as he walks forward,  I release my leg. Even though he stops two steps later, I put my leg right back on again when he stops, and continue the bumping, but stop the bumping the second that he goes forward. So, there was even a little animation in those last couple of steps. He was going to go, and I said, No, I want you to stop.

So we're continuing on with the start, stop, start, stop, him deciding, I will go, I won't go.  You might give some consideration at this point to a 2x4  or a very heavy handed whip, because you start getting really frustrated. I've been on his back now for 15 minutes, which is not that long. You see here, he suddenly decides, "Well, what am I doing walking?" His expression is changing, and here he actually opens his walk up a little bit, so when he's walking, my legs are quiet and off his sides, just draped quietly there, so that he gets lots and lots of comfort and reward when he's moving.

Here, I can actually even just touch his sides, and he speeds up his walk a bit.  So, I am saying a little bit. You have to take a little at a time, but whatever you ask for, he has to be able to deliver. So, don't ask for that unless you know you're going to get it.

Here he's going along pretty well.  We;re bound to get stuck again, here he falters, so I get my leg on before he actually stops and he continues forward again. We made it all the way around the round pen at this point without stopping.  We;re just going to practice a little more turning, so that he responds to the pressure.

Whoops, see, pushed it a little too far  encourage him to keep going forward. Bump, bump, bump. Pressure, bump, bump... And release when he steps forward.

He's decided to become uncooperative again, so we just have to be patient. Continue asking, asking and asking. You notice, the trick is, you can't stop asking once you started. He's not going to give me forward, so I have to turn it into just moving any foot I can get moved, and then turn that back into forward from there.

And there we go. I got a couple of steps, but I'm going to make sure that he keeps on moving this time. So, the bumping doesn't stop until he actually walks. This is what I mean by my annoying fly technique.

If a fly can get a horse to move, I'm CERTAIN that I can get it to move. It's also important to know that it doesn't really matter what direction you go in, as long as you're going forward, so if he's not actually following a line that I'm asking him to follow, that's ok. The whole point is forward. We can worry about steering and turning and giving to pressure after we get the forward.

Now you notice when I asked him to step off this time, I just touched his side. A little bit of tail swishing still,  so not totally willing, but it only took a touch to get him to move off my leg. There was almost no amount of pressure there at all. So we're just going to keep repeating that, and here he gets stuck, I touch him, he goes forward again off the touch.

I have whittled away a bit at his mind. He's still thinking, "Hmmm, should I or shouldn't I?"  "Well, okay, I guess she won't stop doing that until I actually move." Here I'm bumping a little bit harder because I know now that he understands what we're doing. I have to now change his stubborn attitude, into more willingness. So, we just keep on going with the same thing over and over.

Patience, patience, patience. Now many other trainers would fault my method, in that I'm not getting a quick, quick response. Well, I will be getting a quick quick response, as soon as he starts becoming willingly engaged with me and responding to my leg. So, he is improving, and my progress may seem slow, but  you can see when he makes the decision to go forward, he suddenly drops into the bridle and walk right along.

It requires no leg pressure at all to keep him going.  So, I just have to keep making those moments longer and longer. I don't like forcing the horse... I am forcing to some degree, by annoyig him to death, but I don't like forcing a horse into doing something because that does not elicit the cooperation that's required for him to continue being cooperative.

Now you can see he's dropping into the bridle a little bit, starts getting stuck in that same spot all over again, but this time he listened to my leg and walked through it. You see his demeanor is changing, his head his dropping. When his head drops, his back rounds, and he finds much more comfort. So, he's actually deciding "Well, I guess I can do this.

It doesn't seem all that hard." I'm not giving him a choice, but I'm also not using any harsh techniques at the same time. Ultimately what will happen is this behavior of stopping will not be rewarding to him. A horse ends up this way, because we give up asking for go out of frustration, and we just automatically escalate pressure, and then the horse learns to adapt to that pressure, and pretty soon you have a horse who's totally non-responsive. So, I believe in returning the horse back to the very very subtle.

You can see here how nicely he's going along. And, a little touch of leg and he spurts forward. Okay, so we're not going high speeds here. But, we've got some animation in our walk and some comfort in our expression, and so we just keep on walking.

Now you can see that as soon as I just touch his sides, he moved right off my leg. So, although, it wasn't a jump into the walk,  he willingly went forward with just a light touch. So, my job here is to just keep getting him going, stopping him, and getting him to just move off that touch. The other thing is, he's softening up tremendously.

He's dropping into the bridle, softening his poll. He's walking along through the pressure that I'm applying. It is just light finger tip pressure. What this does, is helps him to carry his own frame, and learns how to carry himself so that his back feels good.

I'm giving him that comfort. So, I'm only just wigglying my fingers, mostly on the inside rein, in order to get him to drop in, soften everything up. And now,  when I ask for a little bit of bend, I actually get it! Now when I put my leg on, I can feel him moving away from my leg. It's not a piece of concrete anymore.

All in all, this took me about a half an hour, but you notice his expression, his willingness is there. He's moving forward off a touch of my leg. Gee! Maybe next week we can actually do some trotting when I work with him..

Why Dogs Like To Stick Their Heads Out Of Car Windows

Why Dogs Like To Stick Their Heads Out Of Car Windows
Experts estimate that dogs can catch a whiff of something that's one million times less concentrated than what humans can detect. With so much sniff power, it's hardly surprising that they stick their heads out out car windows. They could care less about the scenery. What they're after are smells. If you're driving through town at 30 miles an hour and your dog has his nose out the window, he knows where the bakery is, where the butcher shop is, which street leads to the local McDonald's, and maybe even what the mayor had for breakfast.

Dogs assume a characteristic expression when they put their faces into the wind: Their upper lips curl, their noses wrinkle, their eyes partly close, and their ears fold back. It looks as though they're experiencing a moment of ecstasy (which they probably are) but mainly they're concentrating. It's as though they're closing down all the rest of their senses to focus on this one.

There's a world of fascinating scents outside the car. This dog loves to hang her head out the window and sample every one of them. All dogs, from huge Great Danes to tiny terriers, have extraordinarily acute senses of smell. Their scenting ability is enhanced when they are moving quickly, which is one reason that they take advantage of open car windows.

Smells are so important to dogs that they have two separate systems for detecting them. One is the nose system. It consists of a huge amount of tissue called olfactory epithelium, which is loaded with scent receptors. This area takes up about 1/2 square inch in humans, but up to 20 square inches in some dog breeds. As air moves over the tissue, odor molecules settle in millions of scent receptors. The more air flow there is, the more scents dogs detect. A Dog's sense of smell is enhanced when they're moving quickly. In the evolutionary scheme of things, this probably made them better hunters because they could load up on scents while chasing prey.

Dogs have a second smelling system that's headquartered in their mouths. Near the upper incisors is a tiny duct that leads to a specialized gland called Jacobson's organ. It's designed to capture and interpret the most primitive types of smells.

Dogs depend on it to identify other dogs, choose a mate, and smell prey. When dogs scrunch up their faces in the wind, it looks like they're catching flies, but what they're really doing is catching scents.

Why Do Dogs Pant And Scratch

Why Do Dogs
It is common to observe that dogs pant and scratch, one would definitely wants to know why they do that. One cannot imagine a dog that does not pant and they have a charming way of doing it. This is what they do if they don't sniff or bark. When dogs scratch, it must be the itch and while it is the single cause of scratching which is common in both humans and dogs but there are many reasons why dogs itch.

Too much importance is not given to dog's panting since it is the most natural thing in the world. Whether one likes it or not but there are certain episodes of panting that may not give a good feeling. There are various reasons because of which dogs pant.

Dogs mostly pant to regulate temperature. They pant because they do not sweat and they cannot regulate their body temperature in any other way so panting it a natural way of cooling themselves.

Dogs also pant as a response to anxiety because of being a sensitive animal; they easily get disturbed by noises and most unnatural movements in their surroundings. Lung infection is also a sign of dog's panting because they also get respiratory diseases. A dog may also pant if it has anemia. It can't breathe smoothly it lacks enough red blood cells.

A dog scratches because of several reasons. It can be because of fleas and other parasites because they live off the dog's skin. It can be due to its immediate environment. If the dog loves to play under the sun in the grass, ground or sand, it can come home scratching excitedly. These are the causes of a great deal of itching for many dogs. Diet can also be one of the reason and sometimes pet dogs get skin rashes even with commercial dog food if it is not of good quality. Itchy surfaces can definitely provoke the dogs to scratch, some textile like rugs and mats cause itching to many dogs. Dogs scratch that part of their body which is wet after a bath. Allergy is also the cause because some dogs don't get adapted to their environment so they get allergic to the wind, carpet, sofa and other surfaces. Besides this, bacterial Infection is also the reason as most dogs are prone to it especially if they are not healthy.

Dogs won't pant and scratch if they are given good care like giving them bath with special dog shampoo, using cool water in bathing the dog and giving them fatty acid supplements. There is no way that a dog can be stopped from panting and scratching but it can be of course lessened.
